Dye transfer in the wash. How can I get it out?
Question:I washed a load of clothes that had a new shirt I had bought for my son, which is hand dyed (like a tie dye). When the cycle was finished it was sitting in the washer for a bit, and the dyed shirt was against my daughters pink dress. So, I now have navy blue dye on some of the dress. Its not dye that bled evenly in the wash, just where the shirt was sitting against the dress.
So far I have rewashed several times using Shout to pretreat, but it hasn't even lightened the blue.
Any ideas on how to get this out?

Look for a product called "Dye Gone" I can't remember who makes it but it works great
As far as I recall when I did that once with a load of white clothes and a pink 'accident' , it never really recovered from the shock. My husband did not wear his pink underwear and I mostly eliminated all the little villains through the years . HoHum
I guess it taught me to be more prudent when I washed white clothes .
Sorry to say there is not much you can do . If you dye the whole garment blue, the part that was already blue will turn out darker so there is no point to that.
Throw it out and forget it ever happened . In later years hopefully you will smile about it just as I am about mine .LOL
Try washing the garment seperatly many times.Always wash whites/colours/towels in a seperate load, this way theres no fear of transfering dye's,also if you put things in the dryer and theres stains/dye on the garment, dryers tend to set stains.Check pockets always before laundering, pens are a bad thing to get ink out of clothes, impossible in fact.
oh yes if you have a fabric store in town they should carry a little miracle called dye grabber. it works like nobodys business.
try cascade and clorox in hot water see what happens.
