I washed my couch cusions and now they are retaining water. any ideas?

Question:I have had the fan on them for hours and have also been soaking up water with towels.

Answers:
We have kids and frequently wash the cushions and covers. Depending on the weather, they will take 2-3 days to dry. Cushions are large 'sponges' and they readily retain lots of water.

Putting them out in the sun will speed up the process. Hopefully you do not still have the cushions inside the covers. If you do...take them out and stand the cushions on end outside.

First you need to put them back in the washer on spin cycle ONLY. You may need to do that a couple of times.

Next put them in the dryer on "air" or the lowest possible temp. It will take them quite a while to dry.
did they spin good when you washed them..? You need to check to see where the water is...Did you wash them in the washer? or with a water hose? stand them on their ends if you hosed them..
You should have removed the covers first & washed them.
Then you can install zippers for next time.
Otherwise, there is a fabric cleaner you can spray on.
Brush it in, let it dry, & vacuum off.
I'd say put them in a clothes dryer.
If yours is not big enough, go to the laundromat.
But check what they are made of, inside.
Foam rubber or plastic will need very low heat.
You are not saying if you removed the filling from inside first before you washed them. If you haven't then remove the filling and dry the two seperate. If the fabric is not washable and you needed to dryclean them, than the fabric may have condensed (shrunk), and it does retain the moisture for very long. Usually couch cushion fabrics need to be drycleaned for this reason.

Try a hair dryer rather then a fan, for the cold air won't dry them...but hot air may shrink them further so be carefull (never place them in a dryer!!), I'd rather place them in the sun-but not strong sun or they'll fade and let them dry slowly, don't rush their drying now that their fabric has condensed. If you stretch them slightly but carefully (or they may rip), while still wet, they may give a little and the threads may losen up slightly. Never wash furniture fabric unless it specifically states that you may do so and even so, let it dry flat.
u can use the vacum cleaner to get all the air out (use a garabage bag) and then put it in a pillow case and put it in the dryer
Did you put them in the spin cycle of the washer?I do that then put the fan on them.Put them in the shower til they drain all the water out of them. Then the fan will do the job.
