Who makes the best vacuum? Dyson, Kirby or Oreck?

Question:I think Kirby.

Answers:
Out of those I would say Kirby. But I used to sell Kirby's. I really prefer a Hoover over those four. But thats my opinion. We use Oreck at work and they also work well. But out the 3 you said it would be Kirby!

I was raised the the large heavy, hard to change bag Kirby. I now use the Dyson, purple for people with pets and I will never go back.
I've had a Kirby for 15 years (3 different versions) and the are the best ...they make our carpet and tapestry rugs look great.
My parents had an Oreck...my mom gave it to goodwill, then bought a Kirby.
Miele is the best if you are tall. I never suffered a backache again once I started using a Miele. They are made in Germany and are extra long for tall people. As far as suction goes, the Dyson is best.
kirby
Miele.
15 years w/o a problem, and it will still suck the balls off a brass monkey.

You get what you pay for!

And they are height adjustable!
I love love love my Dyson. Kirby is good, but cumbersome. Never used an Oreck.
Definately not the Oreck. I used to have one that got KOd by a paper clip! Dyson recently were voted the most unreliable cleaners in Which magazine. So that would leave the Kirby.
Dyson...but if you cannot afford it (cause it is expensive).go to HSN.com and purchase it on a payment plan.
the reason it is better? it has a heppa filter, which gets rid of animal dander, dust and allergens. Kirby and Oreck cannot and do not make those claims..
I have used all (and many others)...really luv the performance of the Dyson.
Thanks and good luck
I had a Dyson and nearly cried when I had to leave it in the UK as they weren't available here then. I loved that machine for my carpets, upholstery and wooden floors. Better than any vac I've ever had, although check the weights against the others you mention. Also - it's always a good idea to look anything up on 'review' pages on the net and get an independant summary of various types.
I haven't tried the an Oreck or Dyson because we've had a Kirby for the last 13 years and it's still in really good shape. I love the way it picks up everything and you can adjust the settings; and it's easy to push.
I have not owned an Oreck, but I have owned both a Kirby(generation III) and currently own a Dyson. My vote goes for Dyson. We have very sandy soil with carpeting--I thought my Kirby was doing a great job, it was a "Kirby" for goodness sakes!! I wanted the Dyson because the bag on the vacuum would clog with dirt before it was full enough to change, decreasing the suction. The bag was also a messy change, and the vacuum was VERY heavy (even with the auto drive). So, I bought the Dyson, vacuumed with it, and COULD NOT BELIEVE the amount of sand it got out of my carpet with the first vacuuming--the canister was like 1/3 full--I was embarrassed! If that wasn't enough--my daughter in law decided to sell Kirby's, so she came over to "practice" her sales presentation, and we put them head to head--the Dyson beat the Kirby. Every test that she had been trained to get vacs to "fail", she could not. She called her boss, and he said, "Yeah, Dysons are tough to beat." (Thank goodness my DIL and I get along well--LOL). Anyway, I love my Dyson--and won't go back to a Kirby if I can help it. My most used attachments are there on the vac, the hose/handle extends for cleaning, the canister comes off and empties out the
bottom, it never loses suction, and you can buy extra attachments. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
None of the above. A good Hoover windtunnel has as good or better suction, and is generally loads cheaper. My wife wanted a Dyson, but we looked at the $400 plus price and figured we could buy 3 other vacs over the years for the price of just one. Makes no sense to spend 3 or 4 times more for no signicant diff in quality or suction. I do recommend a bagless, no messing with bags or wanting to vaccuum and you are out of bags.
i think kirby is over priced and heavy not too familiar with the others
Actually, the best one I have ever used is an Electrolux. We had clothing stores, and used to burn up a Kirby in about three or four years, and it just about broke your back. A lady down the street had a 1950's Electrolux that she had used in her store for over 4 decades, so we invested in two...one for each of the stores. That was in 1991, and we used them to clean wood floors, commercial carpet, and plush carpet, and they worked great. Closed the stores in 1997, but those two vacuums have travelled cross country, been used in two restaurants, and four homes since, long haired dogs and cats, and NEVER have we had a repair. The bags aren't cheap, and the vacuums are expensive, but definitely the best for the money.

I use a Panasonic $149 upright with onboard tools, going on six years. We have 5 shedding animals, I have a neuromuscular disorder, and it works great, is easy to manuver, and have recommended this to my friends. Works great on wood floors or carpet. I cannot push a Kirby anymore, my Mother in Law's Oreck is a piece of crap, and I have never had a Dyson, but people swear by them. (A friend of mine is a vacuum dealer, and he sells all kinds and does not recommend them. His favorite is a Riccar.)
I own all 3 and have taken the Kirby and Oreck to our 2 offices. Only problem with the Dyson is finding someone to service it. Parts are hard to come by and repair shops are hesitant to even look at them. Mine has a belt that is not turning right now. Of the other 2, I like the Oreck because it's lightweight. It does not have any attachments, but I got the small console Oreck when I ordered by upright. The Kirby is heavy and a pain to convert if you need to use attachments.
Kirby, they were so heavy back in the day. Now Kirby makes the machinces lighter and I love it.
Dyson
I have the kirby and an oreck. I like how light and easy to use the Oreck is, the Kirby however has much stronger suction. Have you ever seen a kirby home demo where they vacuum your bed mattress? OMG thats what sold me ! And it actually pulls the carpet up as I vaccuum, I know it gets under the pad. Oreck is light weight and easier to use, but doesn't have the suction. I want to try a dyson, I know nothing about those. Kirby #1 in my book
My brother and mom think Kirby is good. But I have a Eureka. I love it.
Thanks for the help ,
I heard Kirby was good , I dont no to much about the others . But hey ! give them a try, you never know
I love my Dyson. It is the best Xmas gift that I've ever received. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and this the best vacuum I've ever used.
Oreck, hands down. It seems like such a silly topic- vacumns. BUT, I LOVE MY ORECK! It's light weight, sucks up everything, doesn't break and does a terrific job.

BUY AN ORECK!
Definitely Oreck. I have that and it works really well!!
Rainbow is the best, then oreck, I have both and have tried most. If you want a pretty good one that's not as costly Sharp is good and has double motors in case you run over something that could ruin the motor.
Eureka .
Kirby gets my vote. Dyson is too expensive with not such great results, and sorry, but I don't know anything about Oreck. In fact, I don't know anyone who has one.
