How do you clean your shower curtain?

Question:I have noticed some dark (I think mold) patches on my shower courtain. I was wandering if there is any good way to clean it or do I have to buy a now one.

Answers:
i would spray it with mean green first-then rince it with HOT water. if you have time to take it down, put it in the washer on hot or warm water-with either mean green- something like it or bleach-when it is finished- toss it in the dryer for 3 to 5 min to shake the extra water out, and hang it back up. the warm dryer will also help keep it flexable enough to work with.
good luck...then, ever so often spray it with something when you get out of the shower, and it will rince the next time you get in. if you don't want cleaning stuff on your feet.run the shower for a few min before you get in!

Throw the plastic shower curtain in the washer. A little bleach or soap will get it looking like new. I do it every couple of months or so.
I lay it on my linoleum floor and scrub it the best way possible with vinegar. Then I wash it iin the washing machine on warm. Hope that helps.
I spray it with bathroom cleaner, let it sit for about 5 miniutes, then rinse it off, using my removable shower head.

If you don't have a removable shower head, I guess you could take it outside, hang it on the clothes line, spray it, let it sit, and rinse it off with the hose.

I think you can buy shower curtain liners that are machine washable.

If they are available, my next shower curtain will be one of those.
If it's plastic/vinyl you can wash it in your washing machine (alone on a gentle cycle) with chlorine bleach. Rehang to dry.

Or fill the tub halfway with hot water and add a cup of bleach. Then immerse the curtain in the tub. Swish it now and then with a clean mop or broom handle. Rinse very well - and hang to dry. (Though this method isn't as easy as the machine method, it also gets your tub clean.)
YOU HAVEN,T MENTIONED WHAT ITS MADE OF,MY SHOWER CURTAINS ARE MATERIAL SO I JUST THROW THEM IN THE WASHING MACHINE ON GENTLE CYCLE.
The wash machine works fine. Use warm water with your detergent and bleach.to wash and rinse. There are cleaning sprays you could use on the curtain after you shower so the mold doesn't come in the first place.
If it is a plastic curtain, you can throw it in the washer. Same if it is a fabric, water-resistant curtain. Or, remove it from the rod and wash it with a plastic scrubbie (if it is a plastic curtain) in the bathtub (let it soak for a few minutes first) and rinse it well.

If it is a plastic liner, and if you have a removable shower head (one that is on a hose), I suggest that after you have a shower, remove the shower head from the holder and spray down the curtain to remove soap scum. It really helps to keep it clean, and it will discourage any build-up of scum or mold.
I put mine in the washing machine with a couple of towels. I wash on the warm cycle with bleach in the water. The bleach will retard future mold growth.

Carefully remove the curtain from the washing machine because there will be water that doesn't spin out. Take it outside and shake it or allow it to drip in the tub while you unwad it. Hang it back up to dry. Wrinkles will fall out over the next shower or two.
If you're feeling lazy, you could go and buy a new one.

If you think you can do it, try hand-washing your shower curtain. It's the best method for hard-to-remove stains because just using the washing machine won't ensure that those stains would disappear. What we do first is immerse our curtain in a mix of bathroom tile cleaner and water for about an hour or so. Then we lay down the curtain on some tiles and scrub it with those plastic bristle scrub things (so the curtain won't be damaged), or we use steel wool (but watch your scrubbing).

Rinse, then hang on the laundry line.
Cloth curtains can be machine washed. Plastic curtains can be sprayed with a bleach solution and allowed to dry.
If it is fabric you can wash it, otherwise I would just throw it away and buy a new one. If you have a mold problem try spraying Lysol on the curtain after your shower and that should solve the problem.
I would replace it. I would risk mold. What I do is use a cloth shower curtain with a separate clear vinyl lining. I put the two together and put the shower rings through both. This way I only need to wash the cloth shower curtain every 6 months and I replace the plastic lining every 3 months. I buy the clear vinyl shower curtain with the magnets on the bottom at the dollar store for a $1. Target sells them for $3. It's a lot easier to replace the vinyl curtain regularly than dealing with mold.
wash it in the machine with vinegar and baking soda comes out like new
I clean my shower curtain by throwing some towel's in with it, as soon as it get's throgh washing I hang it right back up.
