What's the best way to mop? Side to side or front to back?

Question:

Answers:
I would say, side to side, because it is less stressful on your body than the pushing forward of the mop in the front to back stroke. I found a great article about the whole subject here. Most interesting. I like the two bucket idea, one with soap one with rinse water.

"When mopping a floor, work from the farthest corner of the room to the entrance. To mop open flooring move the mop from left to right in a figure eight motion. Move back one step after each side to side motion. The mop tip position should be 20 degrees from a vertical position toward the person moping. The mop should pass at approximately 12-16 inches from the feet."

side to side its much more efficient over large areas, oh yeah and ensure you use the hottest water you can cos then it will clean better and dry quicker saving you from redoing areas cos of people walking all over your freshly mopped floor
the best way is probably to mop back to front. because if you mop front to back you'll just be walking on the spot you just mopped.
may sound wierd, but my mom taught me this way (because I hate using the actual mop.

get a towel wet. set towel on floor. walk on the towel.

TADA!

she did it when she was pregnant.
depends how u do it. i prefer front to back, but i use swifer. it's easer then swaying ur arms side to side.
Always mop side to side, without lifting the mop, pulling the mop (and dirt) towards you. Front to back can just push the dirt away from you. This was taught to us by commercial floor products representatives at a commercial cleaning seminar. Was also recommeded to use cotton mop (for mopping), and rayon for waxing.
