How do you get grease and oil stains out of clothes?

Question:

Answers:
I have the best luck pre-treating the oil or greasespots with a dish detergent, especially one that advertises being effective in cleaning greasy dishes. (It's Dawn.)

My mother advised me to treat grease spots with shampoo, which is designed to clean hair that is greasy. I've had good results with that as well.

spray and wash works pretty well. Soak the areas thouroughly with it, wait 30 minutes and run it thru the wash cycle. Don't wash it with other clothes as the grease might destroy them as well.
Try the original blue dawn dish soap! my husband is a mechanic and this is what I use. also wash it in cold water!
its very strange, but i use dish soap, and a toothbrush,

pour a nickel-quarter size ammount onto the stain, rub in with finger, then use toothbrush, let sit for 4-12 hours, then wash as usual, JUST DONT DRY IT!
Believe it or not, I use Grease Lightning. I spray a little on the spot, rub and let it sit for about 15mins then wash in regular wash.
I work with alot of grease and it can be a real pain in the buttocks.
I use Era on everything. I wet the clothes, apply Era and let it sit for about an hour. It is protein based, so it takes out almost everything. I am a nurse and have not found a body fluid it cannot get out. Spaghetti sauce on white can't stand up to it either. Good Luck!
my husband works with oil/grease and I use lestoil (sp)... You can find it in the laundry isle or in the household detergent isle... I also add 1/2 c. baking soda to the wash water that helps as well. The lestoil has an odd smell.but it works...
