How do I get rust stains out of denim ?
Question:My fave jeans have brown splotches all over that won't come out. =( I've tried Amway 'Loc', Stain Devil no 5 (the wrong one, but it was worth a try) and pre-treat spray but the marks haven't even faded.
Answers:
Apply lemon juice and salt then place in the sun.
Have you tried a boil wash? but then they might shrink too and you would be in trouble lol! ... errm Im not sure be honest but I would be gutted if I were you cos I know how protective I am of my fave jeans! and they will have to be torn off me marks or no!
The best product is called "Erusticator" soldonly to professional cleaners. If you take them to a Cleaner near you they will treat and wash them for you. This may take care of the spots.
Here try this, it says to use Lemon Juice.
Check the website for further instructions!
there is a product called rust-out that works great! it's in a little brown plastic bottle in the laundry section at your store.
Try spraying the stains with Vanish leave for half an hour then hot wash. If that doesn't work you could paint pictures or stick jems over marks to make them look like designer jeans. If all else fails its time for a new pair.
You might try using the produce didi seven. I have had some success using it on rust stains, but it didn't work very well on really old-set in stains. If nothing else works, you might consider just dying the jeans brown to hide the stains! Good luck.
Imagine they are meant to be there, in fact put a few more on. good look. :)
You can try getting a kit of Rit Dye Rust remover, follow the directions, it just may save them fave jeans. Good luck!
Consumer Magazine says to take salt and vinegar and make a paste letting the garment stand for 30 minutes, and then wash. If that does not work, then try using a past of salt and lemon juice followed by washing. Hope this helps.
Buy a can of Zud, which is a powdered cleanser. Make a paste of Zud & water & rub on the rust stains. Let set for a while, or until the rust disappears, then wash as you normally would. You can buy ZUD where powdered cleansers are sold. I've never tryed ZUD on clothing but it's worth a try. I use ZUD around the house for rust stains. It's great that way.
