What can I use on a simple clothes line to keep the clothes from sagging?

there are plastic 's' shaped hooks for this purpose, available at walmart.. the top of the 's' goes over the top clothes line, and the bottom of the 's' hooks on the bottom line.. this distributes the weight evenly over the lines... you could probably make something like this out of a coat hangar?

Use a support pole in the middle of the line...just prob up the line with it in order to keep the clothes line onthe end of the pole use a couple of nails just half way hammered in...thread the clotes line thourh those two nails.
Boil your clothes line rope in salt water. cover the rope then add about 2 cups salt to the water.
You can also add a lenght of chain to the end of your rope (about a foot lenght) so you can pull it up tight as needed.
run your clothes line through very small PVC pipe, 1/4". they come in long pieces that are easy cut.
use a coated cable and make sure the posts have sufficient stiffness to pull cable tight. you may want to use guy wires.
2 sticks (could be 2x4's) both at an angle so they form a triangle with the ground and the top point intersects with your clothes line. Widen the sticks to bring the clothesline down to remove the clothes and bring them closer to prop the clothesline up.
all clothes lines,be they cable ot rope ,streach with the weight of wet clothes.When hanging clothes on a line was the norm,we used "clothes props" or a common 1x2 or 2x2 with a vee knotch cut in top. you would put line in veee and "prop" line up to desired height to keep clothes off ground.With long lines it was quite common to have two or more props per line.George
