Oreck vacuums really that great?
Question:SO expensive... SO ugly. Are Oreck vacuums REALLY that fantastic? They seem impressive due to their price... at least I'd hope they'd be. Wondering what your opinions are.

Not really, nothing more than any regular Vac, Plus they look like they were designed in 1975. I ordered em a year ago, hated it and shipped it back, kept the small Vac. They called me again and shipped another tryout, didnt even try it, kept the TWO extra gifts (Iron and a handy Vac) and shipped it back. Now I;m waiting for them to call me so I can get more free stuff. Maybe if I know you, you'll get an Oreck minivac from me come Xmas day.
Some people swear by them, others won't use anything but a Dyson. Me, I got a Europro, it was much cheaper and does a great job. I didn't get it for the looks and I store it in the closet.
You will be surprised to find out how much you current vacuum leaves behind when you start using the oreck. Sorry to sound like a salesman, but I have owned one for 3 years and it is the best vacuum I have ever owned.Very light weight and you can go from the carpet right to the bare floor with out any adjustment. Oreck will clean the carpet. That being said, it does not clean the floor without carpet very well, bits of anything seem to move around a lot before being sucked up. I have one but would not say it is any better than other brands. I also have another vacuum that I use that does a better job (or seems to clean the carpet deeper into the pile) but the vacuum is much heavier. I use the Oreck for a quick clean up and the heavy one for the down and dirty job. Also, my Oreck does not have a hose with attachments. You need those attachments to get into all the small cracks and crevices, to get the spider webs, around the edges of the carpet and wall, furniture and dust bunnies.
I have the Dyson animal and I love it! My friend brought her Oreck over and we used the dust from her bag and my canister and vacumned it up. The Dyson won! It is great at getting everything and it is just like they say in the commercials, it doesn't lose suction.
