How can I make my kids clothes stain resistant?
Question:Everything my two boys wear seems to stain. I use Tide HE and Downty. What makes some clothes stain resistant?
Answers:
Don't even try! The more the boys play oputside the better their immune system develops defences against all the microrganism out there.
Only allow them to wear their outside clothes to play in, and keep the fancier ones for special occasions.
Most of the chemicals to prevent stains are worse for your kids than the stains! Don't worry abiout it and let thm have fun.
Scotch Guard. Be careful when using this spray though, it seems quite toxic
the only thing I ever found to make my sons clothes stain resistant was to let them stay in their dressers and send the children out to play in their draws.
DCS Fabric stain gaurd...
go to the e-how.com site and type in stain gaurd clothing..several products to use
scotch guard works great on most fabrics. be sure to check the label and test it on an inconspicuous spot first.
also, in the camping section of any store you can usually find two or three different kinds of water repellant spray. (it's usually used for tents, backpacks, and such). I bet that will repel any liquid that might cause a stain. you might want to check the label and do an inconspicuous spot test first with that too though.
I've found that the better the clothes, the less they stain. I love Children's Place and Gymboree. You get what you pay for. These companies specialize in children's clothing and it shows. I recently bought an outift from Sears for my 3 yr old daughter and it was pretty much a one wear outfit. Treat stains early, buy good quality clothes, and love on those kiddos!
