there is a whole line of grout sealers, cleaners and so on at menards and maybe other stores call TEC. its a common brand to me at menards they also make grout. they have a product called banish this is only for grout haze
Warm water and elbow grease. The water will soften the grout and make it slightly easier to wash off. When you've got all the grout off polish the tiles with a scrunched up newspaper to make them sparkle. This will also show and areas of grout you haven't cleaned off because the grout will turn grey. Don't worry it does wash off.
It will take some work, but it isn't all too hard. The grout should scrape off the tile pretty easily because tile is glazed, while the surrounding grout is not. Pick a tool that will work well with the tile finish. For example, if you have a shiny tile, you don't want to use a metal tool or razor blade, you'll be able to see scratches. Once you scrape the excess, wash with warm, soapy water.
It's technically referred to as "Grout Haze". It is from the guy who grouted the floor not cleaning it up the way he should have. We use a 175 RPM rotary floor machine and a white pad. You can do this by hand but stay away from any scrubbing material that are green or black, they are most likely too abrasive for what you want to do.

I found that steel wool and sugar soap work really well. Sugar soap is an abraisive general cleaner, mostly used on walls before painting them. But the best thing my dad does is use a high pressure spot cleaner. He uses it for his work. He sprays the grouting and the scum comes straight off.
