How do I remove 98% deet from a plastic joystick?

Question:When flying up to AK for the summer, I had a solution of 98% deet spill. Luckily, not much got out, but some got on my MS sidewinder joystick. It appears to be corroding the plastic on the outside, so I'd like to get it wiped off. In addition, two of the buttons were "contaminated" so info on removing that from the circuits would be good. Also, most important, removing the dope from the plastic. I've tried soap and water, vinegar, nail polish remover, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Considering it's all ready been a day since you asked this, your joystick is probably shot, if not, cool beans, but if this device is functioning but cosmetically looks like crap, you got not much to be worried about, as long as it's workin. Oh, maybe I should answer the question, take it apart, and soak it in some sort of a anti-bacterial solutions then after wards, touch up the corroded areas with some sort of a compound, honestly I'm not sure what you could use, but I would recommend that you talk to someone at either a hardware store or, one of dem know it alls at Radio Shack. Hopefully, it was workin before you read this, lol.

If it was me I'd get those wipes at the store that you can use on computer and then see if it still works. If not then buy a new one.
