How can I wash pillows without them getting clumpy?
Question:When I wash my pillows they always get clumpy is there anyway to wash them without this happening?
Answers:
Try drying them with a couple of clean tennis balls in the dryer. (Don't make the dryer too hot.) The tennis balls bounce around and break up the clumps while the pillows are drying.
They recommend this when washing down quilts so I'm guessing it will work for pillows too. Sweet dreams!
I wash my pillows all the time, there rarley get clump but when they do i just spend 5 minutes fluffing them and taking the clumps apart, maybe its the heat, try putting the dryer on air dry.
It probably depends on the material and if the instructions say it is washable. My pillows are memory foam and the foam cover is removable for washing. You never wash the actual foam.
that always happened to me, i wanted to wash my pillows at a really high temperature to kill all the dust mites but then my pillows went all clumpy, i found that washing them on a 30 degree wash with some antiseptic disinfectant or bleach is perfect and if you are concerned about dust mites then just put the pillow into a plastic bag after drying it and put it into the freezer for 24-48 hours to kill them all!
good luck!
Wash them in your bath tub. Use warm water, add the detergent and make a lather leave them for 1/2 hr. Give them a gentle rub. Let all the water run away , then rinse them with clear water. Hang them outside to dry in the sun. This way the sun will bleach them nice and white , the natural way
gbcopy is right, tennis balls work all the time. after they come out of the drier they will no longer be lumpy.
