New Wood Laminate Floor Care... how to clean?
Question:Hi, I just had a wood laminate floor installed in my livingroom. I have no idea how to clean it. Aside from the occassional sweeping, what I mean is what type of chemicals can I use, and what type of chemicals should I avoid? Do I mop it with regular household mopping solution, or is there a particular solution I need to buy? Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Answers:
CLEAN your laminate floor with these general guidelines:
Remove loose dirt by using a non-beater bar vacuum or a dust mop.
With a damp mop or cloth, clean your laminate floor once a week with a vinegar solution (1/4 cup of white vinegar to 2 gallons of clean tap water) or a nonabrasive household cleaner, such as ammonia and water solution. Do not saturate the floor.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, soap-based detergents, waxes, polishes, or scouring powder because they may scratch or dull the flooring surface.
Wipe up spills immediately. Avoid allowing liquids to stand on your floor.
A more frequent dust mopping or vacuuming schedule may be required in high traffic or sandy areas.
For tough spots, such as candle wax or chewing gum, harden the spot with ice and then gently scrape the spot with a plastic scraper. Even a credit card will do. Be careful not to scratch the flooring surface. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Do not use any type of buffing machine.

white vinegar with water only a little of vinegar should do it not onlydoes it clean but it keeps its natural shine
I've been using the Swifter Wet Jet and it leaves streaks on my floor. I have heard that using a Vegetable oil cleaner works to make it look new again, but to just clean with water or one gallon of water to 1/4 vinegar. Good luck!
