How do I clean masonry mess and grout smears from ceramic tile floor?
Question:We had major renovations recently to include a new covered back porch with brick columns. The porch floor is ceramic. The brick masons left quite a bit of masonry (mortor) mess on the floor from large white smears to chunks of mortor. And the tile guy after applying the grout smeared the grout over the floor but never returned to do the final clean up. Help ! How can we clean this mess and get the tile back to its' original finish? We have already pressure washed which had no affect at all.

I'd go to Home Depo or Lowe's and ask them what you should do.
I just read in a magazine the other day to use Mr. Clean magic eraser to remove grout haze, which sounds like some of your problem. I had this same probelm your having a while back. I used something that I bought from Lowe's but can't remember the name but it was back by the tile.
vinigar will remove the haze might have to scratch chunks off with a butter knife
We recently had a new ceramic floor put in and the installer washed the floor with plain water and a large sponge twice. He changed the water in the bucket quite a few times. When he left, there was still a haze left so I washed the floor with a sponge mop and clear water a couple more times and the little chunks of mortar came right up with a rag. Then he told me to go over the whole floor with a dry rag to bring out the luster of the ceramic and it worked very well. Just a little work, but worth it.
