How to remove Brown stains from the bathtub?

Question:Last night I put some Ajax and Clorox in the bathtub intending to scrub and clean in the morning. When I woke up this morning there were brown stains all over the bathtub and no amount of scrubbing seems to get them out. Any suggestions on what happened here and what I can do about it.

Answers:
I think I would try the CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) stuff they advertise on tv. It's that ugly green bottle with a grey label. It depends on what your tub is made of.

Urine works really well.
Are you supposed to let Clorox sit that long? It may have corroded the tub.

I have found (after many different products and many hours of unneccessary scrubbing) that CLR is the only thing that works really well on bathtub stains. You let it sit for 15 minutes and the stains scrub away easily.
try some plain old baking soda and scrub.
If you have an enamel bath tub you shouldn't use anything which is to strong such as bleach because it will take the enamel off the bath. I don't know why it would do it to a plastic tub. I'm not sure what you can now do about it. Maybe you can buy something in a DIY shop to spray it or paint it. I used bleach on my enamel bath before and it stained it really bad so I had to buy a special spray paint to paint over it.
what's the tub made of? porcelin over cast? acrylic? i don't know what could have happened really. the fact that you mixed bleach with ajax probably has something to do with it. bad idea to mix clorox with anything. very dangerous and can be caustic. you may have damaged the surface.rinse it out completely and run your hands over the area. does it feel rough? as though the finish has been corrupted? if that's the case you may have to replace it. if not you can try a product called "the works" it's hard to find but wal-mart and home stores usually carry it. or you can try clr or a laundry product that removes rust.
