How to clean coins?
Question:i am thinking about using bleach but i want to know if there is anyother way. thanks.
Answers:
Handle coins by the edges to avoid putting fingerprints on the flat surfaces. Avoid silver and other metal polishes - even jewelry polishes. They are much too harsh and will leave tiny scratches on the coin's surfaces.
Soak the coins in olive oil or soapy water for a few days and then rinse them well with clean water. Try non-abrasive cleaners such as denatured or isopropyl alcohol, acetone, or an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (with water) if the soaking doesn't do the trick.
Blow dry or pat cleaned coins with a soft cloth, not tissues or paper towels. Never rub the coin - unless it's your good luck charm
I would use a strong cleaner such a TSP, sold at home centers, if you are looking to make pennies shiny again, I would use dilute muriatic acid.
Well a long time ago, someone told me to soak my pennies/coins in vinegar and swish them around in there...and it actually worked really well!!
Coca cola! Brings them up all nice and shiny.I wouldn't use bleach as you might damage them :)
I've just read an article though that says if they are old or valuable you SHOULDN'T clean them as it can damage and de-value them! http://www.24carat.co.uk/cleaningcoinsfr...
Cleaning coins takes value off them.
However, if you want to clean them, use Brown Sauce (Do you have that in USA?)...like ketchup but spicy and brown.
Vinegar also works, then wash in soapy water.
an easy one with tooth paste it will not damage the coin do it in a cloth and put past on it an rub it in circle movements then clean with water the coin, that will also not damage your skin. hope that helps at the end they look so cool :)
cola works magic and it is easy to get
leave them in a drop of coke a cola overnight
Use some hot sauce. It will clean them right before your eyes.
Soak them in hot ammonia water, then rinse and dry individually. That's what i do to mine i find stashed away...
Go for the cola its works best
