Suggestions for cleaning a fan? The type for cooling a room.?

Question:I have tried vacuuming and hand dusting. But, is there are trick to getting dust off a fan quickly and easily. The vacuum does an okay job.

Answers:
I recently found an awesome product at Home Depot called Dust Shield. You spray or wipe on anything that needs dusting and the dust doesn't stick to it. I found I couldn't use it on everything because the dust will collect around it. But I did use it on the fans in the house. Once the fan is clean (which I do with soapy water) you can put on Dust Shield once every few weeks and you won't have that problem. Good luck!

Yes. A dustcloth and some Pledge do just fine.

There are also fan brushes available to clean them. They come on extension poles.
use Lady's hair lacquer, spray it on it will prevent the dust from settling i n the first place ,
use a damp cloth ,and wipe it off
turn the fan on high
Do you mean an overhead fan, or a table fan? If it is a table fan, it all comes to pieces. You take off the cage, and unscrew the blade etc, and wash and clean with a damp rag.The overhead fan cleans up the same way.
Take to it with a paintbrush.
Do you mean a ceiling fan?

If so, take an old pillow case and place it over the blade (the blade will be in the case like a pillow would be) wipe like you would normally, but the dust won't go all over your floor, it will be inside the pillow case.

The just drop the pillow case in the wash.
