How do I brighten my dingy clothes/whites?

When washing white undershirts/socks/underwear use hot water & a little bit of Clorox for whitening/sanitizing, along with your detergent. I have always used Tide & swear by it. I've always used "Final Touch" fabric softener, too, as it has a bluing agent in it, that whitens the clothing also. I always prided myself in how nice & white my whites have always looked. I think it's a combo of the right water temp, laundry soap, & Final Touch. If your colored clothes need perking up, use a non chlorine bleach for colored clothes once in a while.
Put your water and detergent and some bleach into your machine let it fill up and start washing to mix it well. Stop the machine add the whites and start the washer let it wash for a few min and stop machine, Let the cloths soak for 30 min and continue the rest of wash cycle. Seems like a bit of work but wait till you see the results.
I add a cup of Borax to my laundry and hang them outside to dry.
