Will washing clothes in hot water make the colors fade?

Question:I want to shrink my deep red t-shirt maybe two sizes, but I'm afraid washing it in hot water will make it fade. And it's a t-shirt I wear volunteering at a kids' camp, so I wouldn't want to have an off-red shirt.

Washing clothes makes them fade, get the shirt damp and throw it in the dryer on high heat once. see if its the size that you want, if not then repeat

Yes, hot water wash will fade the red shirt and possibly put the red dye in your washer. The only thing that shrinks in the wash is the item you don't want to shrink. LOL
