What's the best way to get dried paint out of your carpet? Is there anything that will completely remove it?

Question:It's a pretty dark color and has been there about 2 years. I'm getting ready to move out of my apartment and need to get it up.

Answers:
There is a product called OOPS that might remove it, if it is Latex and not huge. Go to the hardware store and ask in the paint department.

Better verify what it will do to the carpet before you put it on a visible place.

Hmm when its reasonably fresh, a dose of fabric softner and a plastic scourer will do it. Try sandpaper - that might do it.

Otherwise, get a pair of sharp scissors and drag one of the blades over it a few times to loosen the fibres, then maybe snip some of it out!!

Good luck
that happened to me and i just kept a rug over it...

maybe you could find the same carpet and take one or two of those small sample pieces of it home, cut out the paint spot with a utility blade and replace it
once its dried for that long, there isnt much chance of removing it. Is there a closet in the apartment with the same color carpeting? if so, cut the piece of carpeting up that has the paint in it and replace it with a piece of the carpet from the closet. if you put them so the nap goes the same direction and use carpet tape to stick the piece down it should be a good repair.
I agree with the OOOPS! Our previous homeowner spilled blue paint on the carpet and it was there for a long time. The OOOPS took it right out. Make sure the room is WELL ventilated when usingthis product it has a strong odor.
I have done the same thing, and never got rid of the mark. Maybe you could try a little bit of turpentine in a spot that you dont notice and see if it hurts the rug,(like inside a closet) if it doesnt damage your rug, then try it on the painted spot. Other than that, dont know what to suggest
Try pouring hot water on it... sort of soak it in the hot water, scrub it, repeat.
If none of the previous answers work i would suggest using a carpet plug. depending on the size of the spot. i have did it for burns in carpet before. Go to ur local carpet store and they will give u instructions on how to plug a carpet, and if u don't have any scrap piece of your carpet, they may have some.
