How can I remove the glue left from a name tag on my leather coat?
Question:I took the coat to a dry cleaner but they told me that they could not remove the glue and gave me no ideas on how to do it.
Answers:
ice, and rub gently. and never put a sticky name tag on a leather coat! the ice will harden it, and then you can pick it off. did the dry cleaner already treat the coat? if so, there might be chemicals on it already. check out the www.howtocleananything.com website. it's awesome.
Have you tried a piece of tape, wrapped around your hand? Make sure the sticky side is out. Just stick it on the glue and quickly peel it off. You may have to do it several times. This usually works for me. Hope this does it for you.
You can try Goo Be Gone on a test spot on the inside first to make sure it doesn't harm or discolor the leather, then on the outside. This stuff is a miracle worker on most everything I've tried so far, and is widely available.
rub with vinegar
if it is not suede, alcohol works wonders
Zippo or other lighter fluid will take it right off. Just be sure whichever method u choose u test it on the inside of the hem or cuff. U may want to use a leather moisturizer after.
WD40, it's great for sticky messes. They now come in a felt tip pen format, very handy for getting into hard to reach places. This stuff is brilliant for tons of jobs around the house!
