With all the stain removers on the market !?

Question:Does anyone find a stain remover, or washing powder or bathroom cal remover THAT ACTUALLY WORK!!, All the adverts on t.v. like the cillit bang one they just spray and wipe off all that really dirty stuff, that looks like it been there for years, with no hassle... But in a normal household these things do not seem to work..

Answers:
I am glad I am not the only one who fell for the hype . I used the cheaper products but believed that the name brands would do a better job .May be we would do better to follow Kim &Aggies tips (I WATCH TOO MUCH TV TO)and use household products like salt vinagar bicarb etc.

Yep, you are absolutely right! That's the power of advertising, an emotional plea that may get us to but but is very unlikely to come up to expectations. Frankly, I have found simple thick bleach to be so much more effective around the house than any fancy labelled product. Oh, one thing, Cillit Bang does make my copper coins shiny and I am very grateful for that! I simply think it's a question of Grandma's ways being better without modern hype!
nope. none of them work
that is very true unfortunately and that is called advertising. what i always do is look on the Internet and find things i can do at home using things from the cupboard they really work i save money and energy.
Why not try it out.Good Luck!
If youre talking about getting stains off your clothes, vanish works best (even with the downside of the cheesy adverts). The pretreaters work a well...treat and you can even scoop some in with your wash for the really tough stains!
Try just plain vinegar and water. There are more than 100 uses for this old invention that actually work, and it is still cheap to buy.
Sorry jet 5249 my wife has tried everything she can think of with this stain. Its on black trousers it came from my sisters dogs paws what it is I do not know I do not care, its cost the price of another pair to try and remove, so no suggestions please they are being recycled at the moment.AND the poster of ? is right.
i would like to make the as@hole who fronts
the cshittit bang advert
drink it
it might stop his blearing pompous voice
for once

YES I SAID ONCE.grr i loathe the stupid man
your right of course i use old fashion method, Vinegar, baking soda etc have a look in an old cleaning method book i use my Granny's
The best thing to use is good old fairy liquid put it on a stain and leave for a while before you wash like normal.
You are quite right - no manufacturer will state that a product doesn't work will they?
In trying to solve a problem like stain removal, we need to consider two main factors:
1. Identifying what the stain is and what it is likely to react to to aid in its removal - subject to 2.
2. What the surface or material is that is stained and what can be used to safely remove a stain from it.
If a product satisfies BOTH 1. and 2. above, then it is likely that it may work. There are never any guarantees however.
Also we have to acknowledge that it is impossible to remove some stains from some things, especially where the stain has had a chemical reaction with the item stained. Also some items/surfaces are virtually impossible to remove stains from, eg. paper (like uncoated wallpaper), cardboard, leather, silks, etc. - and certain man-made fibres depending of course on the stain itself.
Remember, there is no panacea for stains - and any manufacturer that claims there is ... is lying!
Well apart from Viakal which works, the only other thing that work to remove limescale is this product I us for almost all my household cleaning, Silver Stainless Steal, Bronze, Brass, Aluminium, Copper, almost all metals, cleans glass, great for many thing´s indoors and out. www.promonov.com It´s a type of natural stone cleaner cream. and it really works
I tried the penny test once and i had it in the liquid for 15 minutes.....it did not work!
I bought a bathroom cleaner at Sainburys called 'it really works' or words to that effect. Made in Australia I believe. While it wasn't quite as easy as 'spray on and wipe off', it certainly made it *far* less effort than other bathroom cleaners I have tried. (I'm a scummy pom so I don't clean the bath often :) )

I hope this nugget of wordly advise benefits the internet community at large.

Oh yes, I have to agree with the cillit bang sentiment - it's crap.
