I have pink film growing in my bathroom (showers and toilet) is it mold?
Question:How do I get rid of it and do I need to worry?
Answers:
YEP
wash with hydrogen peroxide... let that simply sit
Then wash with backing soda as a paste mixed with vingar
Will rid of that problem if you will begin to use this at least 1nce per month
Make sure you also clean your shower curtan & any window.. whenever possible open the window to let humidity out after showering.. leave it open until shower curtain is completely dry
In very humid environments or when no window present, then it is best to clean 1nce per week
Rinse everything.. or wipe down everything after cleaning (walls, mirror, wood cabinets, inside closets) with a solution of 1 part vinegar to 5 parts water
Not yet, but the pink is telling you that the spores are there and it is on its way to becomming mildew. Bleach will kill it and its roots, so don't worry.
its mildew, use some shower cleaner and nip it in the bud!
that is one form of mold, I have it, too in my shower stall. Use the same product you would use to remove other types of mold. One containing bleach should work.do not mix bleach with any product containing ammonia = dangerous and deadly fumes
OMG! I do too. It's hot pink. I asked my husband what in the world it could be. He didn't know either.
Mildew is one possibilities
If there is someone who smokes in the bathroom, it has been know that spots will appear on the ceiling and walls.
1 part bleach to 4 parts cool water will kill the mildew.
It is best if you clean all surfaces in the room.
After you get rid of this pink mold, remember to spray either a product like scrubbing bubbles or Clorox clean up once a day if the shower was used.
That will keep it nice and clean.
Don't forget the corners .
Good luck
It is mildew you need to get it cleaned up. Just use bleach diluted with water. Vinegar and Baking soda would work. If that does not get it all use WD40 I have this problem around my shower edges & door. I could not get it all off so I use WD40 and it helped a lot. Make sure if you use the WD40 have plenty of air stirring.
The pink film ....also known as scum..usually comes from excessive moisture and/or not cleaning fixtures often enough. Be sure to turn on exhaust system especially when showering etc. A quick wash of bathroom fixtures at least every other day will help with this problem. A great way to remove it is with "Grease Lightening". I buy it in a big container then put it in an old spray bottle to make it easier to use. Great product.
