How to stop tea towels smelling?
Question:does anybody know how to stop tea towels smelling - apart from the obvious of washing them (i normally put them in the washing machine but they still come out smelling)
thanks
Answers:
Hold their noses.
soak them in vinegar prior to washing. Old washerwoman trick. :D
I would bleach them which will kill any bacteria. I do this with my face cloths, sponges etc
Get your housekeeper to buy some new one's
throw them away and use kitchen towel instead
Wash them, you cant go a year without putting them in the wash.
have you put them on a really hot wash? maybe with a lemony powder or fabric conditioner?
tea towels smelling like what?
and what is a tea towel do you mean a finger towel
Change your laundry detergent.. if your teatowels smell, imagine that your clothes must not be getting very clean
The very best laundry detergent i the world is the old-fashioned home-made kind

Boil em !!
Wash them on their own at a higher temperature !, get a better bio wash powder !!.
Can't understand why they smell though ?, do you rinse the food off your dishes before you wash them ??.
SOFTENER!!
soak them in either vinegar or baking soda before washing
Does this happen just with the tea towels, If you put them on a 90ºc wash they should come out clean & fresh. Also hanging them outside in the fresh air help´s. Just remember , if your leaving them in the laundry basket to long & they are still wet, they will have that damp mouldy smell when you put them in the machine. So try and leave them out of the basket till they dry of a bit . Hope this helps you a little
Use white ones and wash them with chlorine bleach and detergent.
put in bin and buy new.
Boil wash them. I get a big pot, put the tea towels in, cover in water, add a shake of washing powder and bring to the boil. Then I reduce the heat and simmer for 10 mins before rinsing them thoroughly. This kills all bacteria and brings them up very clean.
How often do you wash them? and what do they smell of? A hot wash, with a non bio detergent should do the trick, but also, now the weather is fine, hang them out in the fresh air to dry.
