I forgot I had something cooking and it burned the pot. Would you go through the trouble of trying to get the
Question:black off or would you just throw it away?
Answers:
I know this. Saw this on a TV show a couple of days ago. If it's a regular pot (not non-stick) pour some Coke or Pepsi in the pan (enough to cover the burned part). Then warm it up. The carbonation and the acid in the soda cooks the burned part off. Don't do this to a non-stick pan though.
Note: I wouldn't of believed it if I hadn't seen it!
Just throw some Dawn in the pot with water and heat it up again on the stove. If most of it comes off, it's worth the elbow grease. If not, bye-bye pot!
Put it outside if possible and leave it a couple of days then try rinsing it out. A pot is worth trying to clean if it is worth more than $5.
Since it wasn't the pot's fault, I'd say clean it. Especially if it is a hand me down pot. Also, if it's an iron pot...you gotta clean it cause it's made to last forever even with a good burning.
If it is a good quality pot, most certainly. Try soaking it, boiling it off, or sprinkling it with bicarbonate of soda and leaving it for a while.
If it is a bad quality pot, say aluminium, you shouldn't be using it anyway because it leaches into your food and can cause breast cancer, so throw it out and buy stainless steel.
i would try just for you
No need to throw it out. It should come out easy, Put enough warm water to cover the burn stains. Now add a tablespoonful of baking powder or baking soda. Leave for 10 min´s then wash with normal dish soap. repeat if it dose´t come off first time round. but it should.( warm water)
Too much scrubbing...toss it and get another one! It is a nice day and you should be enjoying it Lina !
