How to make the whole house smell fresh and clean?

Question:My new house always smells like food. I have used air fresheners, plug ins, candles. It still smells. What can I do to make it smell fresh and clean all the time, even after I cook?

Answers:
here is what i did when a fire started in my kitchen, to get the smell out of the couches, carpet, clothes in closets, etc ... put a pot w/ vinegar w/ cloves (you can use powdered cloves) and let it cook - make sure, obviously that there's a good couple of cups of vinegar in there so that it doesn't simmer down too quickly. let it cook all the way down, or pretty close to all the way down. it will smell strange at first, but it really works as a deoderizer.

also, vanilla is a deoderizer, so using just regular candles or plug ins might not work so well. use ones that are scented w/ vanilla, and aren't just "surface" smellers. make sure that when the canles burn, they burn w/ the scent all the way through, not just when you pick it up and smell the outside of the candle.

I like the smell of Pine Sol.
Go to Sams Club/Bj's and buy your self a big bag of baking soda Bj's has it for under $5 for 12 lbs. At night sprinkle your carpets with it and if you want to furniture... It deodorises, just vacuum and the smell will be gone.. Also, use it down your sink drains... Or once a month or so pour bleach down all the drains in the house to keep them from getting clogged.. I sweep/mop my kitchen floor every night... That helps.Open your windows? Use your kitchen exhaust fan, if you have one.. Take out your trash? That's all I can think of...
Try opening the window.or you can put a fan in the window that sucks the air out instead of blow it in(basically, but the fan in backwards). That's what works for me.
Place dryer sheets in between furniture cushions. Try sprinkling baking soda on the carpets and rugs and allow to sit for 15 minutes then vacuum.

The odors from cooking are absorbed into your furniture, carpeting and curtains and this is why you can't get the smell out.

If you can spray febreeze on your curtains and furniture.
i use a scent diffuser (a candle in the bottom and the scented oils in the top) i have one in my bathroom and in the livingroom and my house smells wonderful all the time considering there are 2 dogs, 2 guys with stinky feet and a smoker who live here. most people that have been to my house and smell how good it smells end up buying a oil diffuser and have no complaints. however if you have small kids and active animals keep your diffuser up high and out of their reach , as the oil will stain whatever it lands on.
besides regular cleaning and spraying since you evidently like to cook or do cook for necessity then keep a pot of sweet smelling apples on the stove on low and the fumes are wonderful, and other foods you can cook have great smells.
Wintergreen Oil is a wonderful deodorant. Purchase some at a health food store and put a few drops on cotton balls and stash in plants, decorative pieces, ect., around the house.
