So how can I clean inside the microwave (info inside)?
Question:So I cooked salmon in the microwave and the oil I sprayed on the pan kind of splattered all around the microwave. I want to celan it but I don't know if I could use chemical cleaners (like 409) inside the microwave. Would it be safe if I use it?
Please help... I want to get rid of the fishy smell inside the microwave.
Answers:
Fill a glass microwave safe bowl halfway with water. Squeeze in a lemon and turn on high
The steam this ceates will make all particles and oil easy to remove and the lemon will also freshen up the smell.
The best thing to use is a little bit of baking soda diluted in water, no chemicals to worry about and the smell will be gone. Then, just wipe it with clean water.
You can spray water inside the mircrowave with a squirt bottle and turn it on for a couple seconds (not too long) and it will loosen any hardened foods. You can take a sponge w/soap to clean it but don't soak it. If you use chemical then be sure to wipe up any excess. Be careful w/chemicals. Smells will come out over time and you'll need to put something in the micro and turn it on to help get rid of it.
yes you can use 409 i use clorox disenfecting spray and also the comet spray then i spray some pine sol so itll leave a fresh scent
Yes 409 works fine, but in order to get rid of the fish smell you may want to do what the other poster said and fill up a dish with lemon and water or banking soad works too.
I would place a bowl of water with a little bit of vinegar in it and run the microwave for a few minutes and then wipe it out.
Soak a rag with diluted vinegar, place in the microwave for a minute and then check it out repeat if needed. Wipe out with a clean damp rag.
The solution to this problem is lemon juice. Put a cup of water containing a liberal amount of lemon juice into the microwave and turn the microwave on for about 2 minutes. The water in the cup will boil and the steam will loosen any dried on grime. Wipe the inside of the microwave with a clean damp cloth. Lemon Juice is also a great degreaser so it should help with the oils from the salmon and it should help with the smell also.
I would think using like 409 would be ok inside the microwave. What I do is put my kitchen sponge in the microwave wet with a bit of dish soap, turn micro on for about 2 minutes on high when done I let stand because the sponge is to hot let he steam clean the microwave too. It disinfects the micro and the sponge then I wipe down the microwave. If that does not get rid of the smell. Try a bit of bleach diluted put on cleaning towel and wipe down to get rid of smell. It might take a couple of time.
Okay everybody try this one before you say...No Way! Take a piece of newspaper wet it completely then squeeze it out and put it anywhere on shelf in your refrigerator overnight.will take any smell(even fish)out..completely gone!! So I would put cup of water till it boils..then leave in 2 min(this softens stuff for easy wiping)..then wipe clean. Then I would put newspaper in wet overnight for smells. No cleaning agents where food will go. Cup in water is #1 for micros...
