What is the best way to clean the inside of a helmet?
Question:I have a 06 Simpson Super Bandit racing helmet and it STINKS. I need a way to clean and deordorize the inside.
Answers:
I also have a motorcycle helmet and you DON'T want to clean it with strong chemicals. This means all those household cleaners under the kitchen sink. Cleaning it with plain toilet soap and warm water is always best. The helmet inner can become smelly over a period of time. Some helmets have a system whereby the soft inner lining of the helmet can be removed for cleaning. This is a major advantage in a country like ours where it is so hot. You can also wear a type of head bandana made out of a thin cotton under your helmet (try a flee market for one). This can easily be washed thus keeping your inner, mould-free! When you do need to wash your helmet inner ordinary toilet soap and warm water does the trick. As helmets are all-weather items a little water cannot harm them so do not be shy with it when washing the inside. Then allow it to dry naturally. Have fun! I hoped this helped!
Have you tried using baby wipes.
Try Windex..it will clean it well. When you're done cleaning it, spray some Febreeze in it & let it dry thoroughly before wearing it. Spray it from time to time with Febreeze to keep it smelling good.
I clean the inside of my hockey helment with clorox wipes, it kills germs and leaves it smelling decent until I wear it again! Oh after I wipe it with the clorox wipe I "rinse" it with a just a rag and water so there is no residue.
