How do you remove oil from a nalgene bottle?
Question:I had a "comedian" who decided to pour white truffle oil into my nalgene when I wasn't looking and because its oil, the dishwasher can't remove it. How would you recommend I get rid of it?
Answers:
Try using Dawn. It is a grease buster. I really like the kind with the pump that makes a foam, it is more concentrated.
Another idea is Simple Green you can buy at any hardware store. It cuts tar, axle grease, etc.
toss in the garbage
Nalgene is just another brand name for polypropylene bottles. If you need to use it for food use, clean with very hot water and a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse, repeat, rinse twice.
If you don't need to worry about contaminating food, use simple green or other household degreaser.
get some lemon juice, pour in your nalgene, and add a little water. shake well, and add a little more lemon juice after a few hours. the lemon juice will help to dilute and break down the oil,as well as the scent that truffle oil will undoubtedly leave.
then, follow the directions that people gave about soaking with dawn, etc...and wash in very hot water and then rinse with cold. this may take a few times...but the lemon juice should cut the oil...
