Question:everytime im in my bedroom at night, i hear this cracking noise from either the tv or the furniture. its wierd!! what is this caused by? one of my friends said its cuz the sun makes the furniture shrink a little and when the furniture cools it goes 2 its normal size again but i dont believe him

Answers:
It is true. When household objects heat and expand, then cool down they will make a sound similar to a cracking or creaking. The wood in the walls will do this as well. "WOOD is an hygroscopic material. When exposed to air it will dry or pick up
moisture until it is in equilibrium with the humidity and temperature of the air.

MOISTURE absorption causes wood to swell.

MOISTURE loss causes wood to shrink.

SHRINKAGE begins at 25-30% moisture content, the fiber saturation point.
Shrinkage continues to 0% moisture content, an oven dry state.

SWELLING occurs as wood gains moisture. Swelling occurs from 0% to 25-30%
moisture content, the fiber saturation point.

WOOD does not shrink or swell equally in all directions."

its the stalker in your room spying on you at night
i doubt thats true because the sun can make stuff shrink but i doubt it can make your tv shrink unless its made out of wood. actually, this has happened to me before. my chair would make this cracking noise and it wouldn't move or anything but it would just crack. eventually it just stopped.
It is your house settling down after it cools down and becuse the tv and any thing else that makes noise is turned off plus no one talking you can hear every little noise,.I dont know about furniture shrinking but sounds good to me.
i think its from the heat because it expands at it heats up and when it cool's down it will pop at it "deflates" not literaly but you know what i mean . my house and TV dose it all the time and i just started to get used to it.
It is just settling from the everyday wear and tear. People use furniture and it adjusts back at night from simple movement.
have you checked the closet?
You must live in a real quiet house & area,

Tv's heating up & cooling down can make cracking sounds,

The whole house can make sounds for much the same reason.
More so the older the house gets. Things loosen up & move more.

Try a little white noise (Back ground music) to block out most of these sounds.

Or you can do as I do, wrap a pillow around my head.
May be is boggy man
it is from your bed kay-kay
