Do i need new pillows?
Question:i bought pillows about 4 months ago...they were nice and plump, but firm as well...i've noticed that they have started to feel a lot less supportive lately. is there something i can do to restore them to how they felt before (wash/dry, etc)?? or do i need to buy new ones? i also should add that i have a sensitive back and have noticed that they are not supporting my neck/back as well as they did...please help asap!

i have washed pillows but not that soon. I c there is a lot of suggestions of what u can do or what to get but my ? is that u stated this was for u'r neck & back... u need a pillow that will support that & by the way u'r talking the pillow u got wasn't it b/c it shouldn't had gone that fast.
I have a bad neck & i use a pillow made esp. for that purpose. They sell them at Linens n Things... Target. Walmart... K-mart... they even have pillows that HAVE the foam-like pillow inside but looks like a pillow.
I would go for that esp. for u'r back & neck.
Washing and drying pillows ruins them. The reason ur pillows have went to hell is because they where cheapies. Buy the high dollar goose feather ones. There are so many differnt pillows to choose from that dont degrade.
Buy new ones, but better ones.
There's nothing you can do to "revive" them. You have to buy new ones, but don't buy the same ones you got last time. Don't buy the really cheap kind either--you have to spend more money to get better quality.
I heard on Oprah that pillows need to go after a year. She said that if you fold them in half and they don't' spring back they are done. Yours are not that old maybe you should write the company or take it up with the store. I have washed my pillows that I do keep over a year I would hate to let anyone know how old they are but I do notice them starting to poke at me now. So maybe its time to replace them. Pillows are crazy expensive.
I had the same problem, and I pushed the stuffing down more. and sewed across the pillow, I lost about 2 inches of the pillow, but they are now more compact that before. I didn't mind losing the 2 inches because I bought queen size pillows. Hope that helps.
i ve tried to renew pillows by washing them .it doesnt work.
so when i buy a new one i also buy pillow protectors. the ones that zip up, they help the pillow keep it,s shape longer.
also they are more sanitary,i can take em off and wash them.
this is important cause I have lots of children and pillows get dirty.
but as far as your neck goes ,I had an injury many years ago and I would suffer from muscle spasms and inflamation from time to time so finally i found this awesome pillow in a drug store made of memory foam.It is very firm and shaped like a rounded wedge.(wish i could draw you a picture) but it cradles my head and keeps my neck in alignment.I havent had any neck pain since.I think I paid around $40.00 for it. that was 5 years ago.
If you decide that you dont want to go that route .Ive heard that feather pillows are nice.
good luck><>
