How do we get dried fabric glue out of polyester?
Question:I bought a Polyester navy blue dress from JC Penny with rhinestone decorations on the front. I didn't realize till I had worn it at a wedding that there was dried glue next to the rhinestones in two spots and it is white mark about 1/4 inch. I can't take it back as it has been worn without a hassle. Also I really like the outfit . I tried adhesive remover, and finger nail polish and it remains. I tried washing it as the instructions say and it remains. Is there any way to remove it? It probably came from the factory and was never caught.

Since a glue gun was used to attach the rhinestones to your dress, I'm thinking that a little bit of heat would remove the glue spots. I'm wondering if maybe you could put some waxed paper or maybe a clean cotton hankie over the glue spots & apply an iron to it, just long enough for the glue to adhere to the waxpaper or cloth, until it's gone. Just a thought! Good luck!!
You can soften the glue with some warm water and detergent, dabbed on the reverse side of the garment, and then wash as usual. If the glue is non-washable, you may need to obtain a special solvent from the manufacturers to tackle the stain. If this is not possible, try a little methylated spirit, amyl acetate or white spirit.
be very careful @ removing as some chemicals may remove colouring or fade it
