Salt water is the natural habitat of sharks, so I am not sure they would survive very long in a lake. In any case, it would be difficult for them to get into one, since they would have to swim up a river that empties from a lake into the ocean. So, I would say that it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for a shark to get into a lake.
into canal yeah with the low and high tide but lakes...I doubt very much. if they've survived all those years I don't think they're stupid enough to venture away from their natural habitat in saltwater.
