Cleaning Very Stubborn Tub Strains?
Question:I just moved to a diff apt, and my old apt had a shiny tub. I kept it that way so easily... rinse the wall down throughly after showering, and dry the wall and tub straight away! I did it even before I got out of the tub, and I tell you, if you do this, you won't ever have to scrub your tub again!
BUT... the tub in my new apt looks FILTHY!! I scrubbed it with pure Lysol, then comet and an sos pad (no they don't scratch tubs) then BAMM, and today a cleanser called KABOOM... guess what... it still looks filthy!! Now the BAMM & KABOOM are corosives, and if anything should have cleaned it, they should have... but they DIDN'T (can I get a refund please). There is what looks like a ring around the tub, and there's not a speck of shine in it... Has anyone else fixed this kind of problem?

what i do is,, dump a whole gallon of bleach in my tub,, fill it uo with hot water only, and let it sit for 2 hours, drain it. spray clorox clean up on , and with a green scratchy pad. clean it thouroly. i hope this workd for you, i understand how stains can get to a person, and when you come out of the tub, feeling dirtier then when you get in,,, somethin's gotta change.
How old is the tub?
The finish does wear off some types unfortunately.
Ask at a hardware store to see if they can tell you how to re-finish it, or get the landlord to.
I hope you pointed this out to him at the pre-inspection.
wow... did u try spraying it strait bleach? Make sure u have the vent going & window open if u can. & let it sit.. keep spraying it.. if KABOOM or COMET can't get it clean..wow... u could try LIME AWAY & c if that gets it but like the other person said, it could b old. And after doing all u can, u know it's clean... so being that u'r renting... u'r gonna have to live w/ it.
Yes, I fixed this problem by filling the bath with water and adding denture cleaner. It shines the ath and removes the ring. If you use Ranex with half the dilution and rubit all over, it also works a miracle.
try scubing bubbles, then repeat, i swear by this stuff
