I need a proven way to remove pet urine odors from carpet. Steam cleaning has not worked.?
Question:we have a nylon based carpet that is new as of December. We have a 9 year old German Shepard with slight incontinence. We need a way to remove urine odor from carpet (safe for dogs and children) and a way to protect from future damage.
Answers:
Use baking soda and then put raw onion on top of baking soda. It should pull the urine up from the padding and carpet and then shampoo. This works if the stain accident is newer,
Try a little distilled white vinegar and warm water. It has a strong smell but its natural and it works. Let it soak a bit and then rinse with a little soap and water. It works for me. I have 3 inside cats. Good luck.
I know the odor is what comes to mind first, but please keep in mind that the bacteria causing the odor is more critical to your health. I don't want to cause you any distress regarding your investment, but the best bet for health may be to find a way to keep your four legged family member off of the carpet.
The stinkypets link is a sales offer for a recipe from home products to remove the odor. I am not affiliated with them. I just thought I would provide this link, just in case I cannot find a free site for you, or if you want to consider what they are offering. There is another link provided that may solve the problem.

You could try to use Lysol concentrate which you mix to the water If the carpet you have is not removable from the floor.
If you can take it out then better you wash it and dry it in the sun.
wash it with soap and put it in the SUN for a day.
Bummer - what you have is 7 month old ruined carpet. Even if you could get it all out of the carpet, you can't get to the pad to clean it. bummer.
