How do you get persistent stains out of certain clothing items?
Question:I washed a load of clothes and some foreign substance, that appears to look like grease, has appeared on two shirts and a pair of boxer shorts. The clothes have already been dried once but that is all. I sprayed Shout! on one shirt and then washed it (without drying it...I let it air dry) and the stains did not come out at all. Does anyone have any recommendations for the clothes?
And just FYI the clothes are a golden rod yellow polo, a light turquoise polo and then a pair of light blue boxer shorts. Thanks!

Take your stained garments to a professional cleaner. They have some high tech solvents and stuff that we can't get at Wal-Mart.
Try kaboom that stuff works great so far it has taken every stain i have aout of all the clothes i go though and i have 4 very young children and a husband..
You can try rubbing some detergent directly into the stain, sometimes this works better than the spray products. Another option is to "re-grease" the stain, using something like WD-40, just put a little spritz on the stain, then treat it as an entirely new stain..don't know exactly why this works, but it does, I guess the new lubricant adheres to the existing stain molecules.. Treat with detergent and launder, you may have to wash twice, but it should work.
elbow grease no just picking I would go with oxy clean. I worked in a deli and I had to ware white button shirts. I got everything then sauce, chicken blood etc on them. You should wast it in hot hot water b/c oxy clean works best in hot hot water if not soak it in them and all that good stuff . But yeah that is what I have found works best, and my husband is a mechanic.
Some fabrics, such as cotton, do not let go of stains no matter what you do. Often, the more you try to get rid of the stain, the more damage you do to the fabric. Natural fibres are much more absorbent than synthetics. If you can find an honest dry cleaner it might be worth your while to see if they'd be willing to give it a try.
dried in oil stains are a pain. You can try washing over and over until the stain comes out (never drying during this process).
I would suggest putting them in the bottom of the trash can and hitting ebay for similar appearal
