What vacuum brand do you recommend?

Question:I have a big golden retriever that sheds. I need a good vacuum for my new apartment that can handle all that dirt and hair.

Answers:
A Dyson!! They're expensive, but I swear, it's the best vaccum I've ever used. I have two dogs and a cat, so you can imagine the hair on my hardwood floor after a few warm days. This vaccum never loses suction and has a great warrentee. I will never own anything else.

I own a sears Kenmore and love it. I heard that Rainbow is very good it has a water filter system.
Hoover's aren't bad.
Best brand out there is Hoover! Its afordable too girl!
i would suggest hoover or black&decker
I love my Dyson it has by far been the best vacuum I have owned however it isnt too affordable.a bit pricey
We have 2 siberian huskies...so yes a ton of shedding for us. We had a Kenmore and switched to a Dyson. They have one for pets, but all it has that's different from the basic are the attachments...I think for the upholstery. We have leather furniture so we didn't need that. We LOVE our Dyson.

Best wishes!
I have a GE, which I really like. Whatever you end up getting, I recommend a bag-less vacuum. Also check what kind of filters it uses, if they're easy to clean or replace. Mine are washable, so that's handy.
If you can afford it - I'd suggest KIRBY. Otherwise HOOVER, may not be a bad choice.
Don't buy a Dyson - they are way overrated (Have to use them sometimes when we clean certain customer's houses) and not rated good by consumer reports. Also, avoid the Oreck - they weigh next to nothing, but the suction, well, sucks (no pun intended). The Eureka Smart Boss ($150) is great and affordable. It is also rated a Best Buy from Consumer Reports and has the Good Housekeeping Seal (something Dyson doesn't have). If you need further information, check out Amazon.com. It is a good resource since they have reviews on there from people who actually own the vacuums.
You need a good vacuum for pet hair.

I have two long-haired cats, and I just bought a Eureka Smart Boss vac. I bought it at Sears for $150. It does a fabulous job at picking up all the pethair, and it does a great job of cleaning the air too! The hepa filter on it is phenomenal.

I've tried the Oreck and borrowed a friend's Dyson. Don't buy into all the gimmicks...I used to buy all the fanciest/overpriced vacs, but Eureka makes the best vac, imo.
I would go with a Miele, I love mine. I would avoid anything bagless, those tend to be nasty, esp. with lots of pet hair and dirt. I would also avoid cheap vacuums as tehy usually dont last long. The Miele is very quiet and easy to use, has great filtration, is clean to change the bag, and the power is amazing!
