Can I use steel wool on a stainless steel pan?

Question:Or would it scatch it? It doesn't have any teflon on it or anything? I'm trying to get these awful grease/burn stains off of it.

Answers:
Use baking powder for this. Burnt on stains, come off easy by putting enough warm water to cover the stain. Add a tablespoonful of baking powder & leave for 10 min“s. Then wash with normal dish washing liquid

I would think it will scratch it. Try using an oven cleaner (the kind you don't have to heat) on the grease/burn stains.
On most stainless steel pans you can use it safely on the inside...but, on the outside...which usually has a higher polished finish... I wouldn't advise it.

If the stains are on the inside of the pan...first of all fill the pan w/ water...and cook it on a medium high heat for 10 minutes or so (make sure it doesn't boil over).this will loosen a lot of the dirt and make the grease easier to remove. Typically you won't even need steel wool if you do this.

If the stains are on the outside of the pan I'd recommend cleaning it with a soft cleanser...I prefer "Bar Keepers Friend".

Good luck!
