How do you remove scratches from plastic lenses or similar clear plastic coverings?

Question:i use an insulin pump for my diabetes and the clear plastic over the read outs scrathes to the point it's almost impossible to read. I had it exchanged once by the supplyer . but I'm sure he charged med-caere severaL HUNDRED BUCKS instead of just replacing a 25 cent piece of plastic. Home remedy?? store bought remedy ?? where ?? just trying to save medicare for others coming down the pike
