Can anyone recommend a steam cleaner/vacuum to...?
Question:get the stains and smell of urine out of my furniture? I've got a cat that’s...well let's just say hasn't been very good lately. I've tried every product, spray, you name it and none of it works. I figure steam cleaning it might work plus I need a new vacuum anyway. Has anyone been in this situation before? What would you recommend?

I love my steam cleaner- but a mix of citrisolve and vinegar- capful each into a cup of water. lightly wipe the furniture and let dry. do repeat treatments- usually 3 work a charm. test on an inconspicuous area in case it's not color fast. also sprinkle baking soda on it- let dry and repeat as necessary.
Orange and vinegar are smells that cats hate so they are unlikely to repeat the offense.Ever notice how a lot of cat owners burn incense constantly? now you know why.
that wont get the smell out. google what takes cat urine smell out
The best way to get out pet urine stains is a mixture of OxyClean and Water. You can find the recipe on the internet. However, it's not fool proof and you should test it on fabric first.
The real problem is once the pet as stained any thing, they are likely to come back. The above forumula is basically what you will find in the fancy store stuff, only it's TON cheaper so you can experiment.
Steam cleaners do nothing; don't waste your time :)
Vinegar and water takes out cat urine ordor... Mix it about half and half. Trust me it works!...Good Luck! =)
Rent a Rug-Doctor steam cleaner. Most of the steam cleaner vacuums you can buy just don't clean as good as the Rug-Doctor. The only one I've seen that comes close is the Bissell little green steam machine.
after puppy training,i called in the professionals - its not as expensive as you may think, the cost for me was $39 for 2 rooms - now that's just about as much as it is to rent a cleaner and buy solution - plus,if it's really bad,you may need a professional. vinegar and water mixed can neutralize the smell, and any good cleaner should treat the stains.
my question is - a cat? they usually NEVER pee/spray in the house - my male cat is 5 yrs old,and has never gone on the floor - furniture. something may be wrong...it could be stressed, the litter box could be too dirty - lots of things,if he/she isn't fixed - that would be a good idea.
good luck hon !
This won't be the answer you want to hear - but here goes. You might find something that you think takes the odor out, but when someone from a house without cats walks in they are gonna smell it! Pet odor is probably the most damage you can do to your home in terms of resale. Not to mention your social life! lol
