My shop vac blows nasty dirty air out of it when I turn it on?
Question:I know I must be doing something silly to cause this. Any ideas?
Answers:
1. Make sure the filter is clean, not plugged with dirt.
2. Make sure the filter is installed tight so air doesn't leak around it.
My vac sometimes blows out a little puff of dirt when I first turn it on if I haven't used it in a while, but it's no big deal.
You haven't installed the filter correctly.
The filter probably needs changing
Check the hose for holes! Also, empty it out after each usage if it's really full. Make sure you have the hose on properly because it shouldn't be blowing out dirty air, it should be sucking in air.
Have you empty the shop vac lately. I know when my upright sweeper does that it is time to change the bag on the sweeper. Some shop vac do have filters too you might check and see it may need cleaning out too. The first answer could be right too the filter might be in wrong.
Is it put together correctly? How old is it? Does it need a new filter or hepa filter? If my hubby was here he'd know. Oh, does it have a gasket around where it goes together??
