Is it necessary to wash new clothes before you wear them?

Question:

Answers:
I do as a health precaution. No, it's not necessary though w/ underwear, bra's yes, jeans yes...I wash everything.

Not really , I just iron over them takes away that new smell, and at the same time kills of any little germs.
Not necessary, but I prefer to wash them first.
I never do - I love the smell and feel of brand new clothes.
It depends on how comfortable you are wearing new unwashed clothes. I personally prefer to wash items like underwear, cotton things that will shrink, and often, just to get rid of the 'store' smell.
I always wash new clothes before I wear them.
I always do. If it's clothing other people may have tried on, I don't want to get cooties or anything. Lots of fabrics are treated with chemicals to keep them looking fresher in the store (or prevent wrinkling, mite infestation, etc.) I have sensitive skin and don't want those chemicals on me! You also don't know who was handling the clothes during the manufacturing and shipping process. The only thing I don't wash first is pantyhose or dry clean only clothing. But I also avoid dry cleanable stuff anyway, so it's not a big problem.
No, Not really..

But, Just imagine how many different people touched or were in those clothes before you got them home.

Not to mention the machines the clothes were on before they ever got to the store..
no i like how it feels when it new
It depends on what type of clothes. Underwear, bras, swimwear, and anything like that definently needs to be washed. Everything else can be, but it is not completlely neccesary.
I usually do - though it depends what type of clothing. Shirts or skirts I don't worry about much, but bras, underwear, pants, socks, and even bed linens I always wash first. You never know what kinds of skin-diseased people or people with B.O. have tried that stuff on - even if you buy the clothes online, it may have been in a store and tried on before.

Also a lot of clothing manufacturers treat their clothes with chemicals to keep bugs and stains off the clothes while they ship, and personally I wouldn't want that stuff all over my skin. And who knows where all the clothes have come from and what kinds of people have been breathing and spreading potential diseases all over the packaging and the clothing? Yuck!!

I have to go wash my clothes and take a bath now.bleh!
You should always wash new clothing when you buy them , as they have been handled alot . Sometimes when you buy certain clothing they will have some smell which has to do with the fabric but will come out when there're washed .
You may want to, you never know who may have tried the items on before you. Or to make sure the colors don't run... That would be bad if you were caught out in the rain !
I would, You never know who tried the on bfore you bought them.
Well that depends on what you are buying. Like one person said if it is a bra, underwear, bathing suit etc... MAKE SURE TO WASH THEM!! Everything else well I say to wash them this way you have a nice fresh smell and not only that but you have a better idea how they are REALLY going to fit. When you first buy the pants or whatever and you try them on, perfect, but then you wash them and they shrink now what are you going to do?
