How can I descale my plastic and aluminium kettles.?
Question:.without using a store bought descaler?
Answers:
I just stick about 1/2-1 cup white vinegar in mine and let it heat up a bit, then, while it's still hot, I swirl it around to coat the inside and then give it a quick scrub with the hot vinegar. Works every time. Just rinse it out.
White vinegar works great. My mom would also use cream of tartar, found in the spices section at grocery. She'd put a couple tablespoons in pot, add hot water, and let sit overnight. She also used it for pans that turned color inside from tomatoes being cooked in them. Good luck!
Cut a lemon in half and boil that in the kettle, then rinse out well. Smells good too!
