How can I use lemons as an air freshener in my home?
Question:If I boil them with water, what else should/can I put with them?
Answers:
I put cinnamon sticks, vanilla and even rosemary (I grow a ton of it) in my popurri simmering pot. Smells wonderful. Great to clean out the microwave, too. Squeeze a few in a bowl, nuke on high till boiling and then wipe away any food particles leaving the micro smelling great.
You can grate the lemon rind to create lemon zest, then, allow it to dry (a day or two) and put it in a dish like potpourri.
;-)
Boiling them in water really won't do the trick. I chop them up and use them in the garbage disposal. Sometimes I just keep a few cut in half on the counter to bring out the fragrance.
I put lemon juice in a bottle and spray clean my bathroom. It smells lucious. I also put whole lemons down my garbage disposal. The uses are endless.
If what you want is to cover something up, lemon juice or lemon oil work as good as anything. If what you want is to get rid of the odor, there is a way to do this without endangering yourself or your family and pets. Its called OdorXit Magic and it really works. Spray it on the floor or walls in a room with lots of odors or spray it on the HVAC air filter (20 to 30 pumps) when you change the filter each month.
