Does anyone know a good way to get cat urine smell out of fabric or clothing.?
Question:I've already tried washing in hot water.
Answers:
My daughter has a cat and I know this question. I put in the wash like normal but add a half a cup of baking soda. Baking soda gets rid of the urine smell and also takes smoke smell out of clothes.
Throw it away, it is ruined.
first wash it with cold water then dry it then put it in the washer again with hot water and dont dry it.
you could try vinegar--it nuetralizes dog urine odor. be sure to rinse well. other than that--vet shops sell environmentally safe cat urine nuetralizers but they are a little pricey
Febreeze
I had that problem before. Here's what I did, I used the reg laundry detergent, with oxi-clean, then I put Mr Clean in the wash. The smell was gone and the stain. Then you wash it again and use fabric softener, because you don't want to go around smelling like Mr. Clean. It's great, I use it on a lot things.
To date, there is no way to remove cat urine or any kind of urine out of cloth. It is a protein & once its in, its in to stay. I have tried everything, call the cleaners, they can tell you. Also, hot water will set in any syain you have, the heat does it, try cold water on stains & smells, after treating!
There is a great enzymatic cleaner on the market called Natures Miracle. It is very safe for most fabric and completely removes any hint of urine odor.
Find a product called - X-O Odor Eliminator..This stuff is incredible!! It even takes out skunk smell..
If you cannot find it in stores, go to qvc.com they have it...
You can try using lysterine in the wash. It works great to take cat urine smell out of carpets. I have used it on burgundy carpets and it didnt take the color out either.
You can use the store brand and it works the same. Just dont use the "blue" one. Use the original one.
Urine stains are one of a pet owner's biggest headaches, particularly cat urine which has a singularly unpleasant smell and can seem to linger forever if not treated quickly. Whatever you do, never use an ammonia-based cleaner on a urine stain caused by a pet as the smell will attract the animal back to that spot.
If the urine stain is fresh, you can usually treat it by just rinsing it thoroughly in cold water and then washing it as normal, using a biological laundry detergent if possible the stain is older and dried, you will need to soak the garment overnight in a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide and water, then wash as directed above. An alternative to this is soaking in salty water, if you do not have hydrogen peroxide handy.
One of the worst things is the lingering smell. However, by sprinkling bicarbonate soda on the area and leaving for while you should be able to dispel most of the unpleasant odours.
