For rust stains (from iron in water), I currently use "Rust Aid". I buy it at WalMart in the section where they sell water softener salts. I put it in a spray bottle. No elbow grease required : )
I've also used "Sno Bol" (toilet bowl cleaner) for rust stains in the tub and sink in addition to the toilet. Just be sure to test a small area first to make sure it doesn't ruin the surface.
the absolute best is the Mr. Clean Magic eraser. We have nasty well water that stains the tub red. That works wayyy better than 409 and other chemicals.
As easy as it sounds...Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. It works like a charm everytime, it got rust stains out of the shower stall from months ago. It's amazing...
I have used CLR and it works good. You can buy it at any hardware store.
Those Mr. Clean Magic Erasures work wonders. that is all I use to clean my tub with... no scrubbing brushes or pads... work great!! I run it over the tub once a week and never have any soap buildup or anything.
If it’s just on the porcelain part of the tub you can use Bar Keeper’s friend. You can clean all porcelain with in; your sinks, tubs, showers, toilets and your stainless sinks. I had someone come out to fix a ding in our tub after we closed and he gave me the tip. Works great.
