Cleaning an Iron?
Question:I have black stains on my iron. I have tried washing it with soap and water, but nothing. What can I do to get it clean? It is leaving marks on my clothes.
Answers:
I run white vinegar through mine. I fill the water reservoir with the vinegar, let it steam through to remove all of the mineral deposits and then run water through the same way. I repeat the process until the water runs clear. It will loosen those black deposits on the sole plate and depending on how stubbornly they are adhered, you can wipe them off with a soft rag or use a scrunge sponge for teflon while the iron is hot after the vinegar runs through to remove it.

This was a old remedy of my Grandmothers & I remenbered it when you asked question.
Have you tried a majic eraser. those things work wonders. I have also used spot shot, for carpets, on laundry and just about anything else. :)
Or use a scouring pad. I dunno. :)
Try a product called Goo Gone then soap and water.
use a damp course piece of cloth. Stretched over your ironing board & rub the iron over it, this should remove the stain
If the black stains are on the iron heating element itself, heat the iron on the hottest setting and get a thick light towel and dampen it... Run it along the heating element until the black is removed. If it still doesn't come out...When you iron, iron the garments with something over it so the garment doesn't get ruined.Good luck
How Ironic. Try WD-40. I know it sounds stupid, but it works.
