What is the best way to remove olive oil and/or butter from clothing?
Question:(cotton or cotton blends)
Answers:
I've tried this a number of times, always with success. To eliminate grease stains made from butter or cooking oil, put a little shampoo on the stain and then put it through the wash as usual. There's no need to let it sit. It even works on old grease stains. The rationale: shampoo gets the grease out of your hair, so why not your clothes too?"
Also, Dawn dish detergent or power booster works like a charm even on OLD stains!!

There's a product called Polysorbate 80 that takes greases off of and out of anything.
My mom taught me to use Dawn dishwashing detergent. It has to be Dawn. Just pretreat like you would with Shout or Spray and Wash. This even works on oil stains that have been through the dryer.
Make a paste of Dawn and Baking Soda.Apply to the stain and let sit overnight. Wash as ususal.
Dawn dish detergent
I agree with dawn dishwashing detergent. It is great. Shampoo also works on grease stains. If you don't have either try hand soap with warm water.
When this happens to me I clean it in the sink with cold water and Dawn dish soap. Dawn cuts the grease, buttar and oil fast. Rinse all the soap out and clean in the washer.
Butter & Cream - for washable fabrics, just a normal cycle with a good laundry detergent. For non-washable fabrics, sprinkle talcum powder onto the stain and leave for 24 hours to absorb the grease, followed by careful hand-washing. Any remaining stain can be tackled by a little dilute methylated spirit. Alternatively, you can use a grease solvent, such as a laundry pre-soak (spot stain remover) or dry cleaning fluid.
Cooking Oil - a very common accident while in the kitchen, these stains are best treated with some talcum powder first to absorb any excess oil and then rubbed with a little cold water, before washing as usual - the stain will usually disappear with this treatment.
