I'm trying to turn an ugly, sheer nylon, orange curtain to white. Bleach didn't work - other products to try?
Question:Anyone done this with oxy? Any other crazy chemicals? I don't care if I ruin the fabric, because if this doesn't work I'll just buy something else.
Answers:
Let set for about 4 hours in bleach water,,,it will turn then.
why white? to matc the room?
cus you could get white fabric and cut little windows or shapes out of it and then youd have a cool white curtain with orange designs showing through. if not...i recommend just buying a white curtain. im pretty sure no chemical cleaners gona do it
You would be quicker dying them.
Soak it in a strong beach/water solution for a few hours...then spread it out to dry outside in the sunshine. (When that bleaches it to white, wash and dry and usual.)
Fill a bucket with bleach AND let the curtaun sit there for a week and keep it in thehouse outside animals could drink it and die and if that doesent work then usa tye die but make ony qhte not all gthos other colors.
Bleach is really the only thing that would work unless you want to try some peroxide? It work on hair so it might work on your fabric
I don't think anything else will work. Nylon is a tough fabric to even dye. It is made from by-products of oil. Buy another curtain.
If you let the nylon sit in bleach long enough to effect the color - the chemistry of the chord will begin to break down and disintegrate.
You would just have to soak it in bleach for a long time, you would have to leave it in there for so long that the bleach would start to eat the fabric. I would suggest maybe peroxide but then you would have used bleach and peroxide and i think that would still eat the fabric. My suggestion is to go to a fabric store and buy some white fabric and make a curtain it would be alot cheeper than to buy an actual white curtain, i made all of the curtains in my house and i get lots of compliments on them.
